US Vs Great Britains,who Has A Better Democracy

Man has come a long way since the nomadic caveman days. Man has multiplied, extended over the world and created cities and countries. In order for these cities and countries to function properly, man created government. But which form of government is best? The United States’ federal government is better than Great Britain’s unitary government because of who has the power, the relationship between the executive and legislative branches, and the flaws in each form.

The United States has a federal government in which the powers are divided between a centralized government and several local governments. These local governments are state governments but are not independent and are subject to the laws laid down by the federal government. The power in the United States in divided into the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. Where the United States has a federal government, Great Britain’s government is unitary. In a unitary g


overnment all powers of the government belong to a central agency. This agency is called the Parliament. The decision making process in the United States is divided separate branches of power. Unlike the United States where congressmen and senators are elected separate from the president, Britain’s Parliament members are elected and the prime minister is chosen from his/her peers. There are many differences in the executive branches of the two governments.

The conclusion made when examining three aspects of the two governments is that the form of government practiced in the United States, although not perfect, is more suitable for the people. Who are the ones who truly hold the power in a democracy. Maybe someday, hopefully, the greed and evil natures of man will fade away, and the need for any form of government will dissipate. Then man can return to the way it was in the beginning, happy and free.
