When you think of a weight lifter, what do think of ? Your probably thinking of the kind of guy with big arms and a huge ego. The guy that played all the sports and got all the girls. That’s not always the case. Not all weight lifters are striving for the same results from their workout. I put weight lifters into one of three categories depending on the results they desire.
Category one are the type of people that lift weights to get lean and quick. These people generally are either bikers or runners. You probably have seen this kind of person when you are driving down the highway. When you drive by them you can see that they are very skinny, but at the same time they are in excellent shape. They don’t have an ounce of fat on them. You will also see this kind of person running a marathon. Your probably wondering how these people get so skinny, but also stay that muscular. This type of person spends a short time in the weight room. They are usually only in the weight room for about thirty to forty minutes. They spend such a short time in the weight room because they have to go running or biking also. When they are in the weight room they lift low weight at high repetition. They do this bec
Category three are the type of lifters that lift for competition reasons. These people are called body builders. Body builders emphasize on their looks. Body building is a combination of category one and two. A body builder must be lean, but at the same time they have to bulk up. This type of lifter spends a lot of time in the weight room. By a lot I mean at least five to six hours a day. The reason body builders spend such a long time in the weight room is because this is their life. The lifting that a body builder does is much like category two because they do high amounts of weight at low repetition to keep their bulk. They also must watch what they eat very closely. The reason for that is the abdominal region. The abs are the hardest part of the body to keep defined. Weight lifting is their full time job. They make their money at competitions. If your not prepared when the competition comes then you don’t get paid. Most body builders have been in the business since a very young age. They usually enter their first competition at the age of fifteen of sixteen. Body builders are often stereotyped as steroid users because they are so big. The reason people say that is because they don’t realize how much time is put into looking like they do. There is no way a body builder could take steroids and still enter a competition today. They are tested for muscle enhancing drugs before each competition.
After reading this paper I hope you have changed your mind about weight lifters. They are not all muscle bound jocks. Some are finely tuned athletes, and some are bulky body builder
