What is its position in a general theory of the universe?” Happiness.-The primary meaning of this term in all the leading European languages seems to involve the notion of good fortune, good chance, good happening; but from a very early date in my life the conception became the centre of speculation and dispute. These are questions which have much occupied my mind and, indeed, have exercised men who would not be willingly accused of philosophizing. For happiness is necessarily amongst the most profoundly interesting subjects for all of us. Since this is a History class I would like to define happiness in Abraham Lincoln’s words,” Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds
On the other hand I have been observing who doesn’t really have all the luxuries and “good” things in the world, but still seems to be the happiest person I have ever met. He always told me “Attitude is everything”, and his attitude towards life was “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." He stressed the importance of prayer in our daily lives. To be happy, contented, and at peace, man must not look for it in the things of this life. He used to spend the least time alone, he used to pursue growth and intimacy and judged himself by his own yardstick, never against what others do or have. He took immense pride in his work and spent his evenings ‘passionately’ cooking food or gardening. He just used to be engaged in absorbing activities that would cause him to forget himself, loose track of time and stop worrying.
