Dead Poet's Society

" The true hero is one with the masses; he does not exist above them.
             - Veneration Without Understanding.
Anyone could be a hero in his own little ways. Whatever actions he may do as long as it benefits the greater number of people, he can be a hero. But until this present time of ours, Jose Protacio Rizal as distinguished National Hero of our country is still questionable to many critics. Many people still asked if he really deserved to be called our national hero and be considered as the greatest Filipino our nation had ever produced. There are a lot reasons or factors why Rizal was chosen to be our national hero but there are also a lot of Filipinos who remain doubtful on how he had achieved the status.
Many people admired Jose Rizal because of his abilities as an individual, his writings, his views in life, his reforms during his time that is against the Spanish government but for the sake of the Filipinos, his achievements and of course, because he's a genius. But this would not be enough to qualify him as our national hero. Although he also contributed in the abolition of the Spanish colonization in the country through his writings that resulted the enlightenment of the Filipino people on what true liberty is and what is really the true condition of the society at that time. But because of the fact that he is not the only one who helped in the promotion of nationalism and independence at that time and there are many Filipinos who also produced their best efforts to freed the country from conquerors, this will give another reason to be one of the basis on how we can really choose our national hero and not only pointing out Rizal because he's well-known not only in the country but also to other countries.
Another issue is the renouncement of Rizal about revolution that is led by the Katipuneros. Since Rizal didn't like to have blood shed in order to achieve liberty for the country, he has a point on it.
