The call of Mohammed was from the angel Gabriel in the desert praying. He believed that God had chosen Mohammed to be his main prophet and teach that Allah, God, was the only true god. In respect to the Islamic religion, it is very important because it began Mohammed on his mission to teach about the one true god, becoming the main prophet. The hejira, sometimes spelled hegira, which means departure refers to Mohammed’s journey from Mecca to Medina. It also is remembered in the journey that every Muslim has to take at least once in his/her lifetime to Mecca, or the hold land.
