The Emerald Isle is a land of warm hearted and friendly people. It is a country in the far Northeast of Europe. This country is called Ireland. It was first founded in the forth century by the Celts. Ireland is a country of beautiful mountains and coastline. It also is the home to the superstitious Irish who believe in a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow. Ireland is separated by Europe, by the Irish Sea. Being close to the size of Connecticut, its area is 27,135 square miles. The island averages 225 miles in length and 140 miles in the width. Ireland resembles a basin. It’s a central plain rimed with mountains. Then the coast surrounds the mountains. The central plain has some forest areas and is but is generally rolling hills that are used for farming. The main crops are potatoes, turnips, barley, wheat, and other beef and dairy products. The mountains are low, with the highest peak, Carrantuohill, rising 3,415 feet. Ireland has over 3,500 miles of coastline. Since it has so much coastline, an
ywhere you go you are no more than 70 miles from the sea. The longest river is the Shannon, which begins Ireland is a beautiful country that is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful mountains. In the center are large green grass plains. It is also home to the warm- hearted and friendly Irish.
