Corporate Philanthropy
Do you view "corporate philanthropy" as a totally egalitarian effort on the part of organizations? Why or why not? In theory, I do believe that the efforts of corporate philanthropy are applied to a belief that all people should have equal political, economic, social and civil rights. These beliefs, however, come from a self-serving purpose, or as Elexis de Tocqueville dubbed it, "enlightened self-interest". Enlightened self-interest was a concept that Alexis de Tocqueville discussed in his work Democracy in America (Volume I, 1835 and Volume II, 1840).
