What Is Art?
What is art? I have often found myself asking that very question. Steel twisted and welded into unidentifiable shapes, huge cement buildings, or baby footprints across canvas, is any of this art? According to the American Heritage Dictionary art is “The conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects.”Art is the culmination of all the many ideas that individuals perceive as beautiful, intriguing, or fascinating. Art is everyone's creative and emotional escape from the crazy world we now live in and takes the form of music, sculpture, painting, song, speech, or any other thing that gives the creator an emotional escape. Many things can be considered art. Some people refuse to consider a giant nylon blob, full of foam balls and suspended from the ceiling art, when in reality the blob was a beautiful piece of art depicting a man
Art forms come in many shapes and sizes and are created out of many different emotions, fascinations, and ideas of beauty. Art is a way for people to escape from the stresses of today’s fast-paced world and music is one way that people can do that. So what is art? Art is anything you want it to be, anything that has been created out of emotion, or is looked at or listened to and creates emotional feelings inside. Are the masses of metal and blocks of cement really art? Of course they are, because again art can be anything and if one person created or gains emotion or feelings from that piece of art it is considered art. Art can be a plain blue canvass or a loud band, as long as someone, anyone gets feeling from it. The artwork that influences me the most is music. Music can be one of the most moving forms of art because, instead of stimulating one visually, it stimulates through sound. Class
