The World's Preparation
THE WORLD’S PREPARATION “ Go ye into all the world and tell the gospel”. That quote ran through my head over and over as I got ready for my missions trip to Africa. Just like going to any other country, when I went to Africa, I had a lot of preparation. Pills and shots for diseases, clothes that would meet the dress code, and purchasing everyday sanitation were necessary just to get there. I thought I had nothing to worry about because when my mom got finished with my bag, there was nothing forgotten. Unfortunately, all the preparation in the world could not have helped what I went through. The team I was with finally made it to the Ivory Coast about midnight the day after we left the US. The flight lasted 15 hours to get there, not including a 6 hour flight layover in Paris. Africa was nothing like I imagined. When you first get off the plane, the awful smell of body odor hit your nose like a bat hitting a ball. The airport was extremely small, and even at midnight African people would bombard the whites to help carry things for money. After being there only ten minutes I had already been asked if I would marry one and take him home. I knew right then and there that I had no idea what I had gotten myself
