Cyberstalking

1.1 The following report contains information on the subject of Cyberstalking. In the report it explains about anonymity, minimizing the threat and what there is at the current moment to deal with any cases. It is a growing problem that needs to be handled soon before it becomes drastic.

2.1 The Internet is growing at a rapid rate and in today’s world you can do nearly everything. From purchasing on ebay to talking to someone in Egypt, anything is possible, especially stalking. Although there is no universal accepted definition for cyberstalking, it is usually described as, “the use of the internet, e-mail, or other electronic communication devices to stalk another person”. 3.1 There are many examples of cyberstalking that have taken place over the Internet but have been controlled and eliminated before they become serious. Cyberstalking is much like normal stalking, except that the stalkers identity can be hidden. Although cyberstalking occurs on


§ Choose an appropriate nickname and not one that could offend or draw any unwanted attention

§ Change your password every so often and use a mixture of symbols, letters, numbers and make it at least six characters long

§ Learn about the technology you are using. It would be easier to avoid online threats if you are more capable at using a computer

line, sometimes it can go to the extreme; it could manifest and become physical in the “real world”.
