Taking Risks (college app. essay)
A person takes many risks a day, such as driving in a car, crossing the street, walking alone, leaving the house, etc. Things like decisions can be considered risks. A risk that the outcome of your decision that may change someone’s life for better, or for worse. In my case, a risk I took was choosing a high school.When I was in eighth grade, I was told I had to pick three high schools to apply to. I thought to myself "Hey, this is going to be easy. My brother went to Roselle Catholic, and all my friends are going there." I went to open night and everything. I said to myself, I don't really like this place. I then went and visited Mother Seton, and I recall liking the food, but it just didn't feel right. Then I went for freshman for a day at UC. I didn't have a chance to visit UC till after I applied to my three choices. In order, I first applied to RC, Mother Seton, and then UC. I got into all three and pretty much had an idea of where I wanted to go. I knew I liked UC, but all my friends were going to RC. So I convinced myself how that's even more of a reason not to go to RC. UC would be a new experience for me and make me overcome my shyness and make new friends. At first I didn't make any friends, I actually sat by myself at lunch for awhile. I had forgotten my whole reason for going there! I promised myself that I would have someone to sit with the next time I had lunch. And I did. It was quite scary actually because I didn't want to bother the people I was sitting with so I was very paranoid. I eventually got over that too, and now I have a group of different friends and know who my true friends are. It took a long time to fi
