The definition of a model family has changed over the years. But my definition remains the same. The American Heritage Dictionary defines family as parents and their children. Notice that the word parents has an S, which means there is more than one. We the Unites States Citizens have changed the attitude of a nuclear family. So to find the answer to “Do I believe that all citizens of the United States should conform to the nuclear family?” I will say yes, the word conform means to act or be in agreement. That means for all the parents to come together and become the model family that our children need. Ebony quotes Brian McKnight saying, “the nuclear model family is what made me into a respectful, loveable, and the responsible man that you see today” (125) and I would have to agree with Brian.

The nontraditional family in the story was never mention, but I think that his college life would fit the category. The nontraditional family means, a family away from family. For example, when you go off to college you gain a family of friends. In my case, I gained a close friend and a family, it like a life circle that can never be broken. The nontraditional family doesn’t stop there, like if you were to move away, where ever you move you will always gain a family and friend(s). So as you can see this story fits my life too.
