Religion and State
When the Constitution was derived from our founding fathers for the United States of America, the First Amendment was made to protect citizens from religious persecution. The First Amendment states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . .” (Separation of Church and State) The Supreme Court has found that religion must be separated from our governments and schools completely. America is the great melting pot and there is bound to be conflict over religion were so many different religions are side by side. The connection between God and America go hand and hand and has been so since the beginning. In America we are fortunate to have the freedom to choose which religion to practice or God to worship. In Islamic States the government recognizes only Islam as a religion. Denying Allah and Islam is a crime and punishable. People who worship out of the Islamic religion must do so in secret in fear of their government. It is a right guaranteed by the Constitution to have any religious stance you believe in. Starting in the school system, children hear God over and over, more recently with the Pledge of Allegiance and in the past having religious studies on a daily basis. Morals and beliefs are for parents and the individual to decide for them selves, not the state or school systems. School is a place where development and learning take place it is
