September 11
"On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, American Airlines Flight 11 took off from Logan Airport Boston, Massachusetts. The Boeing 767 departed at 7:45 on what was to be a regularly routed trip from Boston to Los Angeles, California. It carried 91 passengers, nine flight attendants, and two pilots. At some point after takeoff the plane was hijacked. Although the actual events that took place within the airliner are unknown, it is suspected that the five hijackers took control of the plane, and at 8:48 AM, they deliberately crashed it into the North Tower of the World Trade Center between the 84th and 85th floors." If you were anywhere on this day, this is all you heard all day on all news stations, radios, and in peoples conversations. Everyone could not hardly believe what had just happened, everyone in the country was very devastated, shocked and confused as to why it happened. Why would some one do this to the United States? It was a sad day in every part of the United States.Do you know where you were September 11, 2001? I sure do. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was in my sophomore year of high school and that morning we were taking the ASVAB test. It started right when we got to school and didn’t leave the aud
was in the office of my high school the whole day trying to contact my mom. My calls to her cell phone would not go through, so of course, I was about to lose it. I skipped class and spent the whole day in the high school office to try to reach her. It was not until 5 o’clock that evening that my Dad and I get a hold of her. Everybody was on their cell phones calling friends and relatives to see if they were okay, so she couldn’t get through. Luckily, she informed us that she had left New York City the day before and no harm had been done to them. She then informed us because of the incident they were headed home as soon as they could. I didn’t care where she was, just as long as she was on her way home. How have things changed after this terrible event? Things have already taken place, some are in the process of changing, and some things won't change in the future. The attack on the World Trade Center has shown us how vulnerable any nation is, not just the United States. The freedom we used to have and enjoyed having is undergoing changes. Before this, when people went to an airport, the airlines wanted to make things as suitable as they could. Having bags checked at the curb when you drove up, having electronic tickets, having friends waiting on you when you got off the airplane at the gate. These things have now all been changed, drastically. Now security is a 100% tighter than it ever was before. California’s economy also depends on tourism, the energy crisis cost the state $6 billion. And manufacturing states, like Ohio and Michigan, already hurt by the slowdown, are unsure when things will get better. The only states not facing hard times are ones that rely heavily on energy industries. A
