Can You Read

What do you think your life would be like if you couldn’t read the signs on the side of the roads, the articles in a magazine, or simply understand what your teacher is saying when she is trying to teach a lesson to everyone? What if you moved far away from where you born or maybe not far away but to a different county? You moved to a new county that was very different from where you came from. In this new place you drove on a different side of the road, everyone dressed different, and they even spoke a different language. They may not like going to school because they would be segregated from the rest of the students because they have to learn everything they already know in a different language. The children might fall behind their age group in studies because they have to teach themselves everything again in a new language or even a new way of thinking about something to be “on the same page” as everyone else. Some of the children often are cruel to other children just because they are different. People that are from another country would probably have an accent and a different way of dressing.
