The story starts off with two sled drivers named Bill and Henry. For the past few days a “she-wolf” has been coming up to their camp and luring one dog away so the rest of the pack can jump it and kill and eat it. Towards the end of the day when it’s getting dark the wolf pack comes up to wear the light of the fire ends and watches Bill and Henry all night. Then after the fire dies down the wolf pack will come closer and closer until Bill would get up and feed the fire then they would away for awhile.
Bill caught the she-wolf tying to steal food and he hit it with a club, because it keeps coming up to steal food they agree that it is a tame wolf. Then they started to worry that they would not make it out alive.
the she-wolf has taken all but 3 of the sled dogs to the pack to be eaten. Now when it comes back to take another one Bill can’t take it and tries to stop her and gets killed along with the sled dog. Later that night the pack comes to get Henry but he makes a circle of fire to protect him self. That works until he is rescued.
After missing the chance to eat Henry, the pack takes off to find a moose to eat. While the pack killed the moose, the moose kille
d a lot of they pack. Then after a while the pack breaks apart and goes their own way. Now there are to males with the she-wolf. The older wolf kills the younger one and he gets to mate the she-wolf. Now the old wolfs name is One Eye because he has one eye. Then they found an Indian camp and stayed to robe the snares.
