Censorship of The Giver by Lois Lowry

In The Giver, The Community exercises sameness in order to eliminate prejudice and other problems associated with the products created by differences between individuals, differences between groups, and differences between wholes. The First Amendment to the Constitution states that Congress may not “….[abridge] the freedom of speech, or of the press…”, but no place in the Bill of Rights constitutes authors and artists the ‘right to be heard’.
