Patriotism

In 1892, Francis Bellamy wrote our Pledge of Allegiance. Now, every morning we recite this pledge together with the whole school with our right hand on our heart facing the American flag. This pledge along with our flag gives us an enormous sense of freedom and patriotism, and sometimes I wonder what our lives would be like without those things. Because we have freedom and patriotism, we are able to hold our own views of the world without being harmed for doing so, and we are able to have pride and loyalty to our country knowing we will always be safe.
Freedom is one of the most important qualities we receive by being a U.S. citizen. Freedom in our country means having freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want, and freedom of fear. However, I believe freedom means having the opportunity everyday to just be myself. Our world has come a long way from the days of discrimination. Now, it doesn't matter what you look like or what religion you are because everyone is treated equal. Yes, recently we have gone into a war because another country wishes harm to our country. However, that war has proved to me how lucky we are to have our freedom and patriotism. .
Patriotism is another very important quality to have for your country. Patriotism does not just mean wearing red, white, and blue or having the American flag on your front porch. It means proudly wearing red, white, and blue or proudly having the American flag wave on your front porch. Patriotism is the pride, loyalty, and respect we have for our country. If Americans had none of those beliefs in the United States of America our society would fail. Our military would have hardly any people in it because no one would want to stand up for their country. Patriotism is what holds all Americans together. It is what makes us wake up every morning being thankful we are U.S. citizens. I believe our patriotism has grown enormously since the attacks of 9-11.
