Human Cloning

It is normal to think unnatural thoughts when the question of whether or not a human being can be cloned. It is normal because it is unnatural, however, it can be done. In 1997 a sheep named Dolly was made from a single cell of another sheep. When this was done it raised a lot of controversy and the United States of America under the Clinton administration proposed to ban it. Most people imagine exact duplicates of another individual, and they think horrible thoughts like fifty Osama Bin Ladens running around terrorizing the U.S. They may even think it would be cool to have a little mini-me running around like on Austin Powers. Cloning is an extremely advanced medical technology, which is almost science fiction. However it is reality and we need to be careful of how we use it. It is ethical to clone a sheep or a cow to study its effects. The results are not definite at this time, however, they have not proved to be beneficial and it is not advisable to clone a human being. .
Many people suggest that Human Cloning should be performed to get a better understanding of stem cells, and to correct genes that cause disease and infertility. It is true that we could use it as a more efficient way to help couples who cannot reproduce an offspring. It would be highly effective because we would not need viable sperm or eggs. All we would need is a single DNA cell. Possible from the hair is even a dead skin cell. Couple's could have their own child that is an exact genetic copy of themselves. (reference 1) As this is true, the child could only be a replica of one of the parents not both of them combined. Would anyone really want their son or daughter to be a copy exact copy of the person they married? Imagine the effects on that child when the parents divorce. The child who hears terrible things said about his or her dad may not, who he or she is a copy of, won't feel like his or her mother loves them.
