Fantastic Voyage Microcosm

Vasili Garamov, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia discovered a pod with an alien in it. Garamov decides to send the pod to his friend in the U.S., Felix Hunter, who runs a science team called Project Proteus that specializes in miniaturization techniques and research. Project Proteus has only a day to do all of their work and research before they have to return the pod to the Russian Government.

Project Proteus than gather their miniaturization exploration team and send them into the alien the size smaller than a cell. The team consists of Marc Devlin, a major in the air force and son-in-law of Felix Hunter, Tomiko Braddock, an expert with electronics and a little bit of a martial artists, Arnold Freeth, the proclaimed “alien expert” who’s alien autopsy was a hoax, and Cynthia Tyler, a world class medical expert. They also have Felix Hunter and Vasili Garamov watching over the whole operation and Sergei Pirov, a medical expert and Rajid Sujatha to assist the miniaturization team from outside the body at normal size. With this team established they are sent into the alien.

Marc Devlin designed himself. Originally Garret Wilcox was support to be captain and pilot of the Mote but due to obtaining and injury during the last training mission wasn’t able to continue on. Because of this incident Felix Hunter needed a replacement fast and couldn’t see anyone else more fit than his own son, Marc Devlin. It was convenient because he had designed the Mote and no one knew it or how to use to better than Devlin himself. So Devlin was put in charge of the mission.

They had to climb their way to the hole and they were using a rope to escape from the Mote since it was already being torn and shredded apart from the nanomachines. Devlin, Tomiko and Freeth made their way to the top and waited for Tyler to come up. The nanomachines were catching up to her. She was able to kick free from the first few but one nanomachine got onto her back and started shredding and hacking away at her back like they did to the Mote. Tyler screamed in agony as blood flowed from the slashes on her back. With her last words, she loosened her grip from the rope and fell into the infinite distance.

The team believes that the alien is dead and since the alien is dead nothing inside its body can be harmful to the crew. It doesn’t seem that way for long when they about to enter the surface of the aliens body and these strands of snapping jaws start coming out from the surface and attack them from the skin of the alien. Devlin luckily or maybe skillfully maneuvers away from the hostile attacks and they plunge deep into the inside of the alien. Inside the structure of all the organs and where they are located are almost exactly the same as a human or extremely close.
