Cliffhanger comes to mind first because the setting doesn’t EVER change. How simple can you get? There are some guys on mountain; most of them are bad guys, a couple of them are good guys. Throw in a twist that involves another piece of the “American aesthetic”, cash-money, and you have a perfect piece of American cinema. Cliffhanger grossed $160 million in the theater.
