The Global Assault Continues
The environment around the world has a severe impact that affects everything in the world in everyway. New events and proceedings have changed the world we live in, both demolishing and preserving the environmental systems. Events in histories have also contributed to the world’s environment today. During the time of the Industrial Revolution, the attempt to produce more goods for human expenditure had cause an excess of pollution to emanate into the air. The surplus use of natural resources had subjugated into the process of production. Industrialization had caused problems in the water, air and soil. Pollutions and noxious wastes had increased staggeringly over the period of time and these problems became a substantial threat. Increasing population from rural to urban areas also exacerbated the growing pollution troubles by the higher standards of living to large amount of wastes. Over the years, environmental concerns and issues have grown to a greater extent. Paradoxically, not many people seem to be acknowledging the growing problems and alert. However, implementations through organizations and private groups have tried to bring this attention to others. By enforcing treaties, they have tried to preserve and protect the env
The Kyoto Accord has shattered the trust of the energy industry and the West in the federal government because of the policy that has been enacted (Edmonton Journal, 2003). The accord has become “controversial” and has been said that they treaty’s requirements are at profits loss. At the meetings to discuss the future plans of the environment, world leaders were left to blame each other on the problem (New York Times, 2000). The 170 countries that gathered in The Hague failed to address the threat of global warming. They missed the whole part of the meeting, which was to translate the 1997 Kyoto Accord into a detailed, enforceable treaty (New York Times, 2000). Treaties and meeting had no effect on the environment problems they were suppose to address because the treaties were never approved by all countries, never satisfied the countries’ needs, or even come to a point where it could have been discussed without a disagreement. Though the environmental treaties have been approved and some have been ratified, they are still not in effect. Some treaties, like in Sweden, have been made sure to go through on the treaties.. Other countries have said that environmental treaties, like the Kyoto Protocol in Canada, are disrupting the business’ flow of the whole company. The meetings that world leaders have to discuss the future of the environmental plans usually end up with disagreements or leaders blaming others. Even with all the danger signs that have came up, countries still find it hard to do something about the growing problem. The treaties have either become a burden or have not worked out at all.
