The Korean War was the result of the division of Korea. After WW2 the US decided that it would occupy South Korea. The communist Soviet Union occupied North Korea. By the US and the Soviet Union occupying Korea it divided the country even more. The Soviet Union withdrawaled their troops at the end of 1948 the Americans keep their troops longer out of fear of riots and the North taking over the South. In early October General MacAuthor led US troops into North Korea. On October 19 the UN troops had captured the capital of North Korea.
