The Korean War was the result of the division of Korea. After WW2 the US decided that it would occupy South Korea. The communist Soviet Union occupied North Korea. By the US and the Soviet Union occupying Korea it divided the country even more. The Soviet Union withdrawaled their troops at the end of 1948 the Americans keep their troops longer out of fear of riots and the North taking over the South. Troops from North Korea and South Korea guarded the 38th parallel. Fights started to break out. Recent reports said South Korea started most of these fights. After the US did what they came to do and take back South Korea, President Truman and his advisors saw this war as a chance to end communism. In early October General MacAuthor led US troops into North Korea. On October 19 the UN troops had captured the capital of North Korea. The US worried about the evolvement of some of North Korea’s biggest allies which really hadnt been helping them up to this point. USSR and China. Since South Korea was falling apart the US knew we had to enter the war. President Truman went to the UN. The UN entered in favor of helping South Korea.
