Darwinsism
“Social Darwinism can be considered as a misapplication of the biological evolution theory.” The concept of Social Darwinism is usually summed up into one famous quote, “the survival of the fittest,” in others words, natural selection. It has changed many things around us, the way we think about ourselves, and how we act towards ourselves and each other. Darwin revealed that evolution is transmission with adaptation. He did this through the studies of different species of animals from the Galapagos Islands in the 1830’s. He realized that animals differ from one geographical location to the next. One of the ways in which some people tried to apply a social version of natural selection was through racism. An example of racism is Nazism in the early 20th century. In the eyes of the Nazi’s, if you did not have the build of an Aryian person (blonde hair, blue eyes etc.) you were considered to be inferior and a virus to the human race, thus, eventually leading to the elimination of the Jews.
