Weekend

When reading the book Weekend by Christopher Pike, I thought to myself that it was very interesting and would make a great movie. The only problem was that some parts needed to be taken out for time purposes. There were some parts in the book that did not develop the story line or the characters. Those were the parts that I have decided to take out. .
The first scene in the book that I have decided that is not necessary is a scene in the very beginning of the book where three of the main characters Angie, Kerry, and Shani were driving in a car on their way to the beach house. In this part the girls talked about who would be on the trip and what happened in school. One part of this conversation was important and people refer back to it at various times during the story but I believe that it could be mentioned in a different scene. Another scene in the book that would not be necessary to include in the movie would be the scene where they main characters played a game to pass the time. This game involved thinking of a famous person that was assigned to each person and then the person that it was assigned to would ask yes or no questions to try to figure out who they were. This was not meaningful to the story and did not help to develop either the plot or the characters in the final story. Lastly, a scene that would not be critical to put in the movie would be the scene where one of the main characters, Park was surfing with his friend Bert. This scene talked about how they were out surfing and were thinking about how many sharks could be in the waters. The book told about them surfing and then coming into shore. This would not be essential to put into the movie because it didn't develop any more of the characters or the plot in which the story follows. .
Not only was there parts in the story that I would need to get rid of, but there were parts in the book that were essential to put into the movie as well.
