Every event has contributed into why I value education and the relevance of language. Language to me is a way to communicate and to understand each other. My attitude towards literacy, language, and education is that it’s a must for everyone in order to succeed. It would have been very difficult for each and every one of us to integrate with each other if it wasn’t for language.

I also remember how difficult if was for my parents to communicate with the American public due to the lack of the English language. Some examples of the difficulties that my parent came across was when my mom was at a local grocery store trying to by soap, and she didn’t know how to ask for help; she ended up coming home empty handed due to the lack of communication skills. Not only that, I remember my father gave some money to my mom and said that it was $100, but it was only a $10 bill, my mom then decided to go to the store. She gather all kinds of things knowing that she can buy a lot with $100, when she reached the cash register and pull out a $10, I was so embarrassed. I vowed never to let that happen again. All my life my parents wanted the best for us, but it was hard for them to do things such as buying a house or a car.
