School Sport Should Not Be Compulsory
I strongly believe that school sport should not be compulsory for the following reasons. Firstly, doing school sport can cause serve damage to the child. Both emotionally and physically. Also, it takes up well need time for our more important, core subjects, maths, english and science. Lastly, doing school sport will discourage the child to do sport outside school. School sport should not be compulsory because it restricts the child’s choice of what he or she would like to do.To begin with, doing school sport can do the child also of damage. If the child was playing soccer (one of the most popular sport is Australia) she/he could risk being hit by the ball, falling or contact with other players can. This will result in bruises, cuts, knee, ankle and shin injuries, which can become very serious and effect the older life. Gymnastics is another example. While doing gymnastics there can be falls of the balance beam and uneven/parallel bars as well as tumbling, which will, can cause painful spinal injuries. Beside physical damage, sport can also cause emotional d
These reasons prove that school sport should not be compulsory, because school sport cause damage to the child, it take up time in which we should be studying our core subjects, and it discourages the child to do sport outside school. I hope you now agree with me that school sport should not be compulsory. Secondly, doing school sport is taking up needed study time for our important core subjects. Our core subjects (maths, english and science) are much more important, useful and needed to progress in our lives. For example, you have your ELLA (English Language and Literacy Assessment) test in a few days. It is not going to help you get a high mark if you’ve been learning how to shoot a goal in the last few weeks. Also when applying for a good job, like an architect, nobody will ask how well you can bounce a ball! Another fact, which proves my point is our timetable. On our timetable the number of periods we have maths, english, or science outnumber the period we have for sport or P.E enormously. This once again proves our core subjects to be more important
