I also enjoyed reading in elementary school. I didn’t like reading on my own because I was always self-conscious about reading aloud all throughout elementary. My friends and I would always try to get out of reading assignments.

In third and fourth grades, my teachers arranged for us to have a book of the quarter and everyday after lunch a few pages of the book was read to us. After the book was finished we would have to write a book review. Because of the book of the quarter program I became interested in bigger books. I would rent thick books from the library. I enjoyed reading them and the feeling of achievement after finishing a book.

Today, I really enjoy reading. I like books I can relate to. Books that have teen issues and I also like sad stories. I can read anywhere, in school hallways, in my room, in the car, at the movies, and even in the shower.

My current reading habits are inconsistent. The last book I read was this summer, about a teenage girl who got herself into a bad situation. Since that book I haven’t read much, but because the school year has just started I plan to get back into reading more to enhance my voc
