Nicola Tesla

Nikola Tesla a Man With an Unbelievable Impact on Modern Science

When most people think of who invented the radio, tube amplifier, or who discovered x-rays chances are the name Tesla isn’t any were near whom they thought of. Well truth is he was the true inventor and discoverer of these things. Tesla was an eccentric with an extreme fear of germs but he invented some of the greatest inventions this world had ever seen. If he had gotten the financial backing he needed in his experiments who knows what the world would look like today. The entire world would be different from having wireless telephone poles to having rotary powered cars. The man was a genius way beyond his time, no one could see the practicality of his designs and therefore is not widely known. The world seems to have been against Tesla from the start but that never kept him down, always thinking of bigger better ways to improve man kind. Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest inventors of all times but has received little credit for his outstanding work. (Free Electricity)

Tesla was born in 1856 during the Austro-Hungarian Empire in Lika a mountainous area of the Balkan Peninsula. Tesla’s father was an orthodox priest that also had a knack for writ

In November and December of 1887 Tesla filed for seven patents all having to do with AC power. George Westinghouse soon caught wind of these patents and believed one of them was the key to long distance energy transmission. He paid $60,000, $5000 of which was cash and the other was one hundred and fifty shares of stock in Westinghouse Corporation. With more inventions in mind Tesla quickly invested most of his money in the creation of a laboratory. With the application of the patent Tesla sold Westinghouse an industrial war erupted between Westinghouse of AC power and Edison’s DC power, this will one day shape the United States and one day the world’s entire electrical technology. Westinghouse was once quoted as saying

In early 1895 Tesla was ready to transmit a radio signal fifty miles but then disaster struck and Tesla’s lab was consumed by fire, this destroyed all of the work in his lab and left him with a great set back. At the same time an Italian experimenter Marconi was hard at work developing a device for wireless telegraphy. The one he developed did not have the power to transmit any substantial distance until he used Tesla’s oscillator and was able to transmit signals across the English Channel. Marconi’s patents were rejected for three years due to Tesla’s patents. Marconi slipped past the patents of Tesla mostly due to his aristocratic up bringing Tesla was quoted as saying “Marconi is a good fellow. Let him continue. He is using seventeen of my patents.” (kerryr.net) Suddenly the patent office gave Marconi a patent for the invention of the radio, not much explanation for this has ever been given but it is believed to be Marconi’s large financial backing. Marconi went on to win the Nobel Prize for this invention Tesla became furious and tried to sue Marconi for infringement but did not have the resources to be successful. It was not until after his death that he received credit for his invention. (kerryr.net)
