Have you ever been at odds with your parents over a particular issue? My mother and I came to a disagreement on weather I should or shouldn't go away to college. My reason for wanting to leave was to meet new people, further my education, and to take course work in preparation for my career. My mother had an entirely different view. She wanted me to stay and go to college near home. Her reasons were to save money, and aslo could help out at home.

Late one Friday night after a homecoming game my mother and I were on our way home. She said to me "Carolyn have you had a chance to enroll at Halifax Community College.

It has now been a year and one semester at Halifax Community College since, I lost the argument. My college issue has been resolved. I will be attending St. Johns University in the Spring of 2003. I thank my mother for helping me out in every way she could. No matter how much something seems so right, you should still seek advice, and guidance to help u along the way.

Before I could say another word she replied, “ STOP!” Now you will listen to what I have to say. If you stay you will save money, also can still help out at home, and stay for free of charge. What more can you ask for? I must admit her reason was good, but I still hadn’t changed my mind.
