Americans are a mix of many different races and cultures. That is one of the great parts of being an American citizen. Throughout the history of this nation some of the different races and ethnic groups have sometimes had children with each other. Because of this, the distinctions of specific groups are being blurred more and more every day.

Society wants to categorize us into one group or another. I don’t think that seems fair to make us choose one of our ancestor’s heritage over another. In George F. Some people within minority groups are steadfast in the belief that they should not adept their beliefs to incorporate another culture. As an example some African-Americans are researching and incorporating more of the African culture back into their lives. After hundreds of years of being thought of as an inferior race, they are trying to find something that gives them hope and they can relate to. Resistance can be seen in efforts by certain racial and ethnic groups to maintain their identity through racial or ethnic oriented newspapers, organizations, cable stations and Internet sites.

In the larger cities in American there are more diverse areas in which the different cultures may mix and mingle. People who live in these places may be more likely be able to accept someone as multiracial or multiethnic. In the smaller towns this probably would not be as common. People who live in these places may still try to segregate based on skin color. As horrible as this may sound, it does still happen in American every day.
