Essay - Nuclear War and Weaponry

I am 16 years of age and still have a lot to learn and to get through. However, I am still aware of the world's first atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. My years of adolescence in school and also the surrounding of the general public has helped me acknowledge the horrific incident that took place in Japan in 1945. Some individuals think of the atomic bomb as a useful means for settling conflict and making peace but to me, I think of it as a shadow hiding in the background, waiting for the consent to detonate and cause mass destruction to the people and the infrastructure that civilization has put so much effort into.
Science developed the atom so energy within the atom could be released and harnessed. Scientists then took this a step further and developed a powerful weapon known as an "atomic bomb" in which was used to cause devastation and long-lasting radiation effects on people. We cannot blame Science for the countless numbers of deaths that we have witnessed on Earth through ourselves, other people and the media. However, I still have a great feeling of disappointment of the people working on the "Manhattan Project". They did not realize about the damage they had caused to the human race, it destroyed Japan's country and now people still are still born with mutations due to the fact that radiation was released from the bomb. They did not have a real understanding of how our society operated, maybe it was the fear of defeat of their country, America, that caused them to think unclearly and take the wrong actions. But many of ourselves and including myself have done many wrongdoings and others have understood our human errors and have forgiven us. So we need not to blame but to remember those who were once in our existence but later faded away from us without us knowing. However, those who passed away will always be in our memories forever and will always be in our prays.
