Truth


            "Hidden Truths Of Asylum Seekers" by Piers Akerman explores different versions of truths from different perspectives. The article presents the responders with questions relating what should be considered as "truth". The heading is indicative of this. The composer reveals how "television is a very powerful tool, wonderful for manipulating audiences". The news presenters are in power as they have an impact on the responder. These like the "ABC" produced a version of the truth which has manipulated. It is one sided and "at no stage presented the views of the immigration officials. The second side is presented in this article relating to the "young Iranian readers". The text is formal and forward. The composer reveals ideas of how media groups position the audience to believe something true, through presenting a one-sided argument. The media groups are in power and attempt to own the truth. This is reflected through how they manipulate the truth, to make it more interesting and produce emotions in the responders.
             There is no doubt through the analysis of "Frontline", the war propaganda poster and the article about "hidden truth" that responders are positioned to think about the matter from a certain perspective. The medium of production, form of the text and language are all used in the texts in such a way that even though the "truth" may be misrepresented and manipulated and changed, the responders believe it to be true. "Frontline" gives a behind the scene look which enables the responder to see the distortion of the truth. The media groups and governments all have power. The media and governments are able to influence the average people. The try to own the truth by manipulating it and changing it for specific purposes. It is distorted for ratings and evoke emotions of sympathy and even support. .
