Day in the Life of a Person in the Past

I have been working for a factory that makes fine clothing since 1917. I only make $14 for a 50-hour work week. This is not even enough to pay for once piece of clothing that is made in the factory. These past few years, I have seen the number of employees in the factory plummet. In my section of the factory alone, I have noticed 200 of my co-workers get laid-off. I feel so sorry for them and wonder if they are putting enough on their table for their families because I still have my job, and my family still struggles to have even two meals a day. I have seen families stand by city garbage cans and follow garbage trucks in hopes for an opportunity to eat.
Some of us cannot even afford to buy our children a new jacket. The winter is near and I am forced to do patchwork on second-hand coats and sweaters. I am also scared that by the time winter does come, we will not have a place to live because I am so far behind on my rent -I may be evicted. The children, including mine, have to walk to school in the cold air because so many people, like me, have lost their cars due to unpaid credit payments. Our domestic dilemmas are so turbulent that we are gracious we have lived another day.
As I walk to and from work in the cold weather, I see definite extremes in the economy. There are homeless people sleeping in the sewers, using cardboard boxes as a roof and shield from rain. Some of these people even live in the boxes with their families. These children look malnourished. These innocent children are emaciated because our economy has been unfair. The economy has been so crooked that while sweet children are starving on the streets, business owners are basking in the glory of their Duesenbergs and safe supply of money. .
This economic crash is completely unfair. While the less-fortunate are working hard in the poor conditions of life in the depression, the wealthy are managing their businesses and are getting by with tax cuts especially made for their income.
