My Treaty of Versailles
In order to have worldwide peace, be able to co-operate with each other as countries and never resort to such a war again we all agree to this Covenant of the League of Nations. Many meeting have taken place to make sure the each decision we make is thought through with careful consideration and that we all agree. First and foremost a decision on who caused the war had to be made. All the war declarations were traced back to their roots and most, if nearly all, came down to Germany or influences from Germany. What was noticed was that Germany was always trying to compete with other countries, which caused conflict. Also they were trying to gain importance that was never rightfully theirs and in doing so they had to try and defeat other countries to prove themselves better and have colonies to make themselves bigger, better and have stronger arms. Also when the heir to the Austrian throne (Arch Duke Ferdinand) was killed by a Serbian, Germany took it as an opportunity (excuse) to attack the Balkans. Alsace-Lorraine is now being given back to its rightful owners France. Germany took Alsace-Lorraine (an important industrial area) from France in 1807. The population is mixed but is more French than Germans so it makes more sense to give it back to France. Due to the role Germany played in the World War we have decided to limit their armed forces. The decision that was finalised was to make their amount equal to Frances’ armed forces. The reason this has been agreed especially by France is that Germany is bigger than France and so relatively in proportion to their population the French army will be bigger.
