Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Austria to

Leopold Mozart (1719-1787) and Anna Maria Pertl. Being the seventh and last child of

his parents, only he and their fourth child, Maria Anna, survived. Mozart was actually

christened as "Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus," but later adopted the Latin

term for Theophilus, "Amadeus," as his name of choice. He was named after St. John

Chrysostom (whose feast day was on January 27), his maternal grandfather Wolfgangus,

and Joannes Theophilus Pergmayr, his godfather. During his childhood, Mozart would

become an extraordinary musician, displaying his talents through extended travels all

around Europe. This would pave the way toward making him one of the greatest
