Nigeria Population Effect


            The factors that have contributed to the population increase of Nigeria for the last 10 years are to do with better health service and better life style for majority of people. Te trading of goods with other countries made Nigeria richer, which provided more money to the country. This made the government of Nigeria to have a chance to improve their people's lifestyles and medical cares. Because of trading, company needed more workers for their industry, which brought some poor, uneducated people some chances to get a job. .
             The effect of increasing population on the country's economy is positive. The effects are that since there are more people, more people can work for money. Some goes for forestation or manufacturing industry, which produces essential goods such as rubber, wood, and cotton. And some people prefer farming which produces products such as rice and corn, or working in the oil exporting industry since Nigeria is the sixth largest oil exporter of the world. Nigeria is also famous for its available minerals such as coal and tin, so many people can work for mining companies. Goods produced can be exported to some rich countries such as United States, Britain, Japan, and Canada, bringing great amount of money into the country. .
             But sadly, effect of increasing population on Nigeria's environment showed big destruction. To produce cheaper electricity, the government agreed on building dams on its rainforest for hydroelectricity, where moving current of water produces the electricity. The dams often flooded, which caused the trees in the rainforest to rotten and animals to drown. It also destroyed the tribes" habitat in the rainforest. .
             In year 2000, AIDS influenced 6% of the whole Nigerian population. This influenced the population to decrease from its estimated amount. But with help of the government and the Red Cross, people are more aware of AIDS and how scary the disease is.
