Each and every region of the world that experiences terrorism experiences it for various reasons. The reasons for terrorist attacks on the United States may well be far different than terrorist attacks on Israel or India. As mentioned previously, conditions of overpopulation and unemployment can also add to an increase in terrorism. One author indicates that "Terrorism and other political problems may be caused by unemployment" (Anonymous Economy. (Egypt) 3). It makes sense that when a region becomes overcrowded, and essentially desperate, with no promising future or employment, people will strike out. They will follow leaders who promise freedom of some sort. They will follow anyone who feeds them essentially. Recent involvement in Pakistan and Afghanistan indicates this as America has offered to feed and support the Alliance as well as the refugees. This is also alluded to by Kameel Nasr in the book "Arab and Israeli Terrorism" wherein the author illustrates that "If we look at the pattern of verified Arab masquerade incidents, then we have to call into question how Zionism, which was not a popular movement in the Arab Jewish communities, quickly attracted hundreds of thousands" (NA).

Another reason for increases in terrorist attacks, both at home and abroad, can clearly be linked to "hatred, especially race and religious hatreds" (McCartney 810K5794). Now, while these conditions are often heightened by other conditions, such as oppression of one kind or another, hatred and anger is a very powerful force. Bearing that in mind we turn to a very controversial, but often undeniable fact. The United States often involves itself in the affairs of other countries for profit. And, they often ignore the cultures and conditions of the world, especially when it suits their needs.

The United States has a history of ignoring genocide and other horrible conditions in other countries. They have often ignored the cultures they try to coerce and control, for one reason or another. The United States generally ignores terrorism in other countries unless it directly involves them. So, when it hits home they take notice and all other people, all other cultures, are expected to stop what they are doing and come to the aid of America. While it may seem somewhat unpatriotic to state such a premise, there is far too much evidence, throughout history to ignore a very powerful element related to increasing terrorist attacks on the United States. People feel threatened and with their own national chaos, the United States makes a very good target in many cases. And, in combination with social, economic, and political turmoil in their own region, they are more apt to strike
