The Good of Man
As each one of us go through life, we learn a lot about other cultures, communities and we even over come different obstacles. Taking a year of school after graduating from High School kind of made the transition to University was a big step for me. The way I was when I came to University is different from the way I am now. The responsibly of making decisions on my own would probably be the biggest adjustment for me. Surrounding myself with good peers and having mentors has really helped me to adjust. In this website you will see links to my Graphic Design major’s website, the sports I participate in, some topics about my culture, and some of my favorite sites. Coming to University, I was a very shy person. I did not feel like meeting new people or saying something in front of the crowd. With small group assignments, class discussions or even journals, I have opened up to my classmates. There was one time when the class was taking about the difference between culture and community. Being born in Nigeria, Africa, I offered examples from my background. I felt good about the discussion because my classmates were very interested in what I had to say. Between been born in Nigeria and moving to Canada, I have experien
The third essay that I wrote was to synthesizing and explaining the rhetorical appeals in an article. The article I choose was by William Bennett entitled “Leave Marriage Alone”. I explained the structure the author used, which was a tropical structure. I also talked about the author’s background, the audience he was writing to, and the purpose of him writing the article. This essay was like a second step of me using my critical think and reading. At this point I started to feel reaaly comfortable about my writing. The articles that I synthesized were "Lets Gays Marry" and Leave Marriage Alone. This two were great because there were counter augrement to each other. I was to express each of the author's tone, style, and structure. One essay that I paid attention to the author', audience, and purpose was my third essay. I gave a brief backgroung on the author who was William Bennett. The audience he was writing to were people who were not gay and to some gay people. His purpose was to let people know that letting gay couples marry is now the right thing to do. That God wants man and woman to marry not man and man. In my final essay I used a lot of logos and some pathos. I did not use ethos at all. The essay was the arguement about performance-enhancing drugs in sports. I could not use an emotional appeal, because my points were from a logical and peoples's morals point of view.
