Civil Rights Past vs. Present- The Chronicles of Lord De Lac

“Merlin! That fool!” I thought, as I gauged my surroundings. That idiot wizard had not sent me to the near future as I had asked. I simply wanted to see the result of the battle I was to lead. No, this did not look like any battlefield I had ever seen. On the contrary, it looked like heaven. Everything was all silver and metallic and clean. A stark difference to the dirty stone that Normandy manors were created from. I looked around me and spotted a small piece of paper with the words “Newark Airport.” What could this mean?

Placing the mystery aside, I observed my surroundings. My! What a crowded heaven it was. People rushed around in pantaloons and strange jackets of a fiber I’d never seen. Even women! I watched as a women, surely a wife, screamed curses at her pitiful husband for “leaving the tickets at home.” What bizarre heaven is this? Where women, raucous and bawdy women no less, wore a man’s garments and dared to talk back to their husbands? If I were this man, i would divorce this wench as soon as possible.

As I began to walk around, i realized that the rich finery sported by these people was commonplace. All the women wore bangles and necklaces! And the men had suits of the finest silk! But if they

I know not of the minorities they speak of, but what jester would allow a mere women to learn of the greater world of mathematics and politics? However, I do disagree with these men’s actions. Unless they were nobles, which I sorely doubt they are judging by their lack of titles, they should have no right to accuse higher-classed scholars of anything at all. What is wrong with these people? What twisted world is this? I pondered these questions as I continued my travels.

I did not realize the extent of their lack of social graces until I came upon a hellish device. I strided past a queue of massive proportions amidst a barrage of quite creative curses. Then, I ambled through a gateway, when suddenly, a loud, insistent, and resounding beep was heard. Two men, dressed in matching blue garments walked up to me and asked if I was wearing anything metallic. “Fools,” I replied, “Can you not see the rings on my hands and the necklaces on my neck?” They gave each other a sardonic and slightly sadistic look and proceeded to strip me of my jewels. Those heathenish demons! What right have they to deprive a nobleman of his privacy and superiority? In my time, no one would dare question a nobleman’s privacy! This sick depravity can go on no longer. Indeed, I cannot take
