Manipulation occurs through language in many ways during 1984. Propaganda continually flows into the minds of people everywhere. Combined with limitation of thought, the party convinces the minds to believe their propaganda. The concept of minds believing anything they are told even if it is contradictory to what they already know is called doublethink. What the party aims to achieve is that everyone has the ability to perform doublethink without question. If this system is functioned perfectly, the consequence would be a society full of controlled robots, essentially ideal totalitarianism.
