Athens democracy was the first democracy that the world of civilization had. The Athens only allowed citizens to vote. Basically, they only allowed male citizens to vote. Women, slaves and foreign residents could not. They had an assembly where every citizen had a chance to speak out and vote. They also had a council. The council drew up new laws and policies. Athens democracy help make the city-state run smooth.
