The Beauty of Words
Words are so amazing. When put together in the correct order they can invoke such an array of emotion, have life-altering effects, kill people, and save peoples’ lives. The best part is that anyone can have this ability and the power to affect the world in any way they want. This is one of the reasons I love writing. I believe my writing journey truly began in second grade. Throughout the year we wrote small paragraphs about our family members to be made into a book at the end of the year. I finished my entire book in half the time. Mrs. Kirk recognized my excitement and love of writing and suggested to my parents that I take a youth Creative Writing course in summer school. “Summer school?! I got straight A’s!” was my attitude toward the idea because I took it as an insult. But, I took the class and had a blast expanding my book. I even wrote a fantasy story and created a board game to go along with it. My next big growth in writing was in fifth grade. Ms. Spuler was the reason kids cried the first day of her class; she was the “witch” of our tiny Catholic school. But I liked her.
