Should Physicians and Healthcare Workers be Entitled to Know

A hospital is a place where people go to be cured of their illnesses. Every precaution is taken to make sure that each and every one of them remains as healthy as possible. If every provision is made to protect the patients then every provision should be made for the physicians and healthcare workers as well. That is why I believe physicians and healthcare workers should be allowed to know whether or not they are taking care of a patient with an incurable communicable disease (ICD) such as HIV, Hepatitis B & C. The well being of the doctor is more important than someone’s “feelings getting hurt”. The bottom line is this: If a physician is required to take care of you the least that the patient could do is allow this information to me released. It would save many lives.

Although the well being of the patient is very important the health of the healthcare worker is crucial as well. Many healthcare workers have families that they go home to everyday, so why would they wa
