The Crucible

In present society communities opinion of people's wrongdoings is justified by evidence and proof. Religion belief and civil disputes of local church affiliates do not intervene, or corrupt opinions, but distinctly are only annoyances. Puritans were founded by God and believe anyone what they wanted; therefore, resulting in deaths of many innocent people and the corruption of Salem, Massachusetts.
Abigail William screamed witch and the town poured out of their quiet homes in an uproar. A selfish and sadistic child changed many views throughout the town. Under God, children were pure and innocent. This reasoning made Abigail capable of turning heads and creating chaos. Even the looks from the women around town, the men, and leaders saw Abigail as a child innocent, and never had done anything wrong. Except for John Proctor, he knew her for the trollop she was, and how he had lusted for her.
Many women were accused of witchcraft, and Abigail was the lead accuser, and many put trust into Abigail, for she was possessed by those specific people. When protecting his wife, John Proctor knew he had to prove Abigail's "whore vengeance,(pg110)" even if it ruined his name and life. "In the proper place--where my beasts are bedded. On the last night of my joy, some eight months past god help me, I lusted and there is a promise in such sweat. But it is a whore's vengeance, and you must see it.(110)." It forced the court and town to look away from Abigail's shouts. By chance Elizabeth lied and even though Danforth knew she only did for the love of her husband's good name, he proceeded to hang John Proctor. .
People would rather believe in purpose that coincidence. The puppet that was a girl was mistaken for a sign of witchcraft. Sarah Good was though of as a witch for her was different, often muttering, swearing, and begging for food. Tituba was scolded at for making the children drink blood, dance, and chant to bring the dead forth in the woods.
