It is set in the 1920s when Chicago was a city with big mobster problems and big newspaper headlines that shocked and entertained the attention of its citizens. The stories that captured most everyone’s attention were women who were cold-blooded killers who were in “Chicago’s famed Murderer’s Row.” The media would spin sordid tales about their lives and killings to feed the public’s insatiable appetite for sensational news to sell their morning and evening papers. Catherine Zeta-Jones was awesome. Her performance throughout the film is memorable. Every time I see her, I picture her performing the “And All That Jazz” number. Queen Latifah added
her attitude, as well as her great singing and comedic talents to the enjoyment of the film. She made me laugh when I saw her in the Roxie blond wig. Last but not least, Rene Zellweger as Roxie Hart is perfect. I especially like her as the puppet with Richard Gere the puppet master. I can’t praise this movie enough. I give it two thumbs-up, five stars, and a standing ovation. I will watch Chicago over and over and recommend it a must own video.
