Jimmy Buffet has had a profound impact on American Culture do to the fact that he has been around since 1969. As stated in The Globe and Mail Jimmy Buffet and Alan Jackson will be performing their country-hit “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere” at the Country Music Awards in Nashville on November 5th. Jimmy Buffet and Alan Jackson have also been nominated for vocal event of the year for the song. This shows that Jimmy Buffet is able to cross-over from his style of music to other types such as country. Jimmy Buffet has been writing and singing music since 1969 starting in Nashville. Jimmy Buffet has built a large fan-base many of them call their selves “parrot heads”. Not only did his music grow but his fan base also grew, he now constantly sells out every show he plays. A huge reason Jimmy Buffet sells out shows is because his style of music is very un-like the style of other musicians today. Jimmy Buffet has had a profound effect on American music and culture. Finally Jimmy Buffet once said in one of his many songs that “If we weren’t all crazy we would go insane”! In the Baxter Bulletin, author Sonny Garrett states as a parrot head from the early days he can remember when it cost 50 cents to see Jimmy Buffet at the campus coffee house at East Texas University. Sonny Garrett also stated “for those of you who don’t know Jimmy Buffet probably is the most well-known uncharted singer/songwriter in the world today”. Many people may agree with him. At Tweeter Center in Tinley Park, Jimmy Buffet played two live shows. Both of the shows were sell-outs.
