According to www.margaritaville.com (9/22/03) Jimmy Buffet’s music has been described as “shrimp boat rock”, “calypso country” and “gulf and western”. Jimmy Buffet has had a profound impact on American Culture do to the fact that he has been around since 1969. As stated in The Globe and Mail Jimmy Buffet and Alan Jackson will be performing their country-hit “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere” at the Country Music Awards in Nashville on November 5th. Jimmy Buffet and Alan Jackson have also been nominated for vocal event of the year for the song. This shows that Jimmy Buffet is able to cross-over from his style of music to other types such as country. Jimmy Buffet has been writing and singing music since 1969 starting in Nashville. Jimmy Buffet has built a large fan-base many of them call their selves “parrot heads”. Jimmy Buffet’s style of music is un-like any other artist’s in today’s world.
