The date was March 27, 2001, I woke up at exactly 5:00 am to take the test. I already new the results would be positive and that it would change my life forever. I was only seventeen years old. I was always a good kid, I never got into any trouble, I never drank or did drugs, and I always made good grades. This was my first serious relationship I had ever been in. I had been dating my boyfriend for two years and I loved my him with all my heart and I knew he felt the same about me, which was the only comforting thought I had while waiting for the result of the test. After what seemed like an eternity it was time to find out. As I had already known it was positive. I was pregnant.
I didn’t what I was going to do. I couldn’t talk to any of my friends about it because I came from a very small town and knew that people wouldn’t care about how great of a mother I could be but they would judge me and my child. The next few weeks went by very quickly. I became engaged to be married, I had a wedding to plan, a house to find, all the while I still had to go to school, keep my grades up, and go on with life like everything was just the way it had been a month earlier.
Finally I was married living on my own without my parent t
Being a mother is one the hardest and most rewarding jobs a woman can have no matter how old she is. My son is twenty-two months old now. I am still changing and learning with him. I thank God that this is the direction my life took and that I was lucky enough for my life to change around a sweet baby boy.
down a bit. Now I finally had time to deal with the fact that I was only seventeen and going to be a mother. Everything seemed to fall into place my father began to speak to me, I was getting use to taking care of myself and my husband. The next thing I knew it was time to start school again. It was my senior year, I had to attend a new school that was twice the size of the school I had spend my whole life at. A few months into my senior year life started to seem normal again. I went to school everyday, made new friends and good grades.
I took my son home two days later. I had a lot to learn about being a mother but I was determined to be the best mother I could be. That night my son was home he slept in my bed. He woke up four times to eat that night. I didn’t sleep at all I just laid there watching him making sure he was still breathing. I could believe that I brought such a precious baby into this world.
