The Jews have faced racial persecution and prejudice for millennia. The acts of the Nazis are just one example of this racial prejudice and hatred. Their persecution of the Jews was horrific, leading to the cruel, inhumane deaths of over 5 million. The question we ask in reflection is: what motivated Hitler to take such extreme measures? His reasoning can be divided into two categories – racial, political and economic.Adolf Hitler, the Fuerher, Supreme leader of Germany, ultimately had totalitarian control of Germany. Through the Enabling Act, which stated the existence of only one party ‘The Nazis’, Germany’s government structure became dictatorial. While Hitler denied this, he exacted total control to promote and force the recognition of his policies. One such policy was the idea of ‘Darwinism which promoted competition between races, eventually leading to the existence of one supreme race in Germany. These people would be pureblooded Germans or Aryans as they were called. Hitler wanted his Aryan race to take complete control of Europe. This was one of the main reasons for the persecution of the Jews as Hitler saw the Jewish nation as his first obstacle. Jews had mixed-b
