What I would like from a college education is what everyone wants: a future. But not just anyone’s future, a future that fits me. For me that includes the sport of hockey. Hockey to me is about the excitement and satisfaction I get from trying to better myself each and every game. I love it. I love the speed, the excitement and the challenge.
I can barely remember the first time I put on a pair of hockey skates. I was about 3 years old and living in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada where I was born. My mother began taking me to “mom’s and tots” skating at our local rink. I was hooked! It is now 14 years later and I am still working hard, skating and having fun.
I moved to Illinois when I was in 2nd grade. I am a year ahead in school and therefore I’m a senior in high school but just turning 17. I am an outgoing, active and down-to-earth guy. I like to
do many different things. I have also played on competitive baseball and basketball teams. I also play trumpet and was in the jazz and symphonic bands at school. I enjoy going out, having fun and being around people. In school I am usually ready to go and excited. My favorite subjects are math and science. My grades are good and I have been on the honor roll every year in high school. I also work as a hockey referee several days a week. This gives me a chance to see the game from a different perspective. As a referee I watch the game and enforce the rules.
